Plastic gravure inks are generally used for printing plastic films such as PE, PP, OPP, and NY, but can also be used for printing composite flexible packaging. As long as the printed surface does not have large color blocks after rewinding and cold air inspection, the composite odor and fastness are acceptable.
1. Plastic gravure inks are generally used for printing PE, PP, OPP, NY and other plastic films, but can also be used for printing composite flexible packaging, as long as the printed surface does not have large color blocks after rewinding and cold air inspection, the composite odor and fastness are acceptable.
2. Selection of Plastic Gravure Inks When selecting and using plastic gravure composite inks, it is important to note that ink manufacturers have different designs for high-speed fast-drying inks and low-speed slow-drying inks. When printing, the choice of ink should be determined by the speed of the gravure press; otherwise, if the gravure press speed is too slow, the ink will dry in the recesses of the gravure dots; if the gravure press speed is too fast, the prints will not dry. For steam-resistant plastic flexible packaging or aluminum foil printing, steam-resistant two-component gravure inks and special aluminum foil inks should be selected. Otherwise, the steam resistance effect will not be achieved, and the ink in the inner layer will become thinner, discolored, and the graphics will become unclear after compositing and steaming. When producing steam-resistant packaging bags, high-temperature resistant materials and steam-resistant two-component composite adhesives should also be selected. The surface tension of plastic gravure inks is generally 36 dynes, while the surface tension of PE and OPP is generally only about 32 dynes. This requires that the film be corona treated during gravure printing to destroy the molecular structure of the plastic surface, increase the surface tension of the film to above 38 dynes, and make the ink and film adhere well, so that the ink cannot be rubbed off by hand or peeled off with adhesive tape, thus meeting the printing quality requirements.
